Pre-K children are learning about our rituals and how a UU church is a welcoming, loving community. Each week they light a chalice, hear a story, learn a song or a finger play, and share their feelings. This week the lesson is Helping Others.
Elementary ages continue their new unit on becoming anti-racist. This week our K-2 class explores racism in our communities and cities. 3rd-5th graders will look at the history of segregation. If you have more than one child in elementary classes and have issues with accessibility, please reach out to me so we can talk. Also, if you are willing to help out in the RE Zoom classes this year, I’d love to hear from you.
Middle School youth are engaged in Popcorn Theology, watching clips from movies and considering the messages or lessons that it provides. This week they will look at building resilience using clips from The Hunger Games. If you have a youth in 6-8 grade, consider joining us for this time together.
New to Live Oak? If you are interested in visiting a class, and are not registered for RE, please send me an email at dlfd@liveoakuu.org.
Can’t make the scheduled RE time? No worries. As we say, families are the primary religious educators. All lesson plans are available to registered families via Live Oak Padlet. (Registration link in sidebar.) If you attended RE, the site includes optional activities for home related to the session.

Monday Meditation
If you are looking for a way to start your week with mindfulness, please join Carrie on Monday mornings for a check-in, brief guided meditation and a time to set your intention for the week ahead. We gather for about 30 minutes starting at 7:00 AM. Monday Meditation.
Chalice Circles
Chalice Circles have kicked off, but I am looking for a few more people who are interested in joining some others who are registered to create a second afternoon group. Of course if you are interested in an evening group, you can sign up as well. Register HERE. Need more information about Chalice Circles? Find it here.
Acorn Groups
Have you been a member of Live Oak for less than a year? You might want to join an Acorn group. A new group will be starting in January. These short-term groups are a chance for you to get to know us better and for us to get to know you better. For more information or to sign up for an Acorn Group, please contact membership@liveoakuu.org.
Learning Resources
Don’t forget to visit the learning resource page for adults if you have the time to engage in more than what is happening at Live Oak.
Have an idea for a one time or ongoing online gathering that you are willing to lead? If you do, let us know and we’ll help with scheduling and publicity. And be sure to follow us on Facebook and subscribe to the newsletter for opportunities for online engagement.
