(aka Faith Development Updates 9.1.21)
As we begin to look at mid-September and our experiment with multi-platform worship, I’m starting to get questions about Adult Faith Development. That’s great! Keep them coming. And here is what I know right now…
Adults
You can visit the Adults Learning page on the website to see all the plans for the rest of 2021, as they currently stand. Of course, flexibility is key as we navigate our start to fall programming, but October 3 is the date to remember. I’ll share more about that all-ages class at a later date.
Remember that Chalice Circles are a great way to go deeper in a small group setting. Sign-ups are now open for those as well.
Finally, I hope to be able to offer some online options for adults in addition to our Sunday morning gatherings. Some may be a multi-platform class on Sunday morning, others will be strictly virtual at another time.
And here’s the real part of this — I am ONE person. This past year, for obvious reasons, staff was in the thick of things, doing many tasks that are normally done by volunteers. While I plan to lead some offerings this year because I truly enjoy it, if you want adult faith development on Sunday morning or Chalice Circles during the week, consider offering to be a facilitator for the planned courses. If you want virtual faith development programming, sign on to be a virtual facilitator. I will provide training and class materials for you, support for registration, publicity, and the Zoom meeting space. Please reach out to me if you are interested.
Faith Development for Families
We’ve launched the online family focus pages for your use at home. Whether you attend in person or solely at home, these pages provide at home activities to deepen Unitarian Universalist identity. I am also considering offering a weekly virtual Family Chapel, but would like to know if people would attend a specific time or would prefer it be asynchronous and part of the monthly packet. Drop me a line.
Outdoor faith development classes begin on October 3, following our outdoor worship service, and I need your help. PreK (ages 3&up) will gather on the playground with Harmoni, masked and with at least one parent volunteer.
Older children and youth gather in the circle of trees near Common Ground and start approximately 15 minutes after worship ends. Consider volunteering to lead elementary, middle or high school classes. And you won’t want to miss the all ages faith development class on October 3rd. It is the first in a series of spiritual practice sessions and the focus is on letting go!
Access to classrooms inside will not be available, but restrooms will be accessible. No nursery care is available. You, as a family, can decide your own comfort level in participating outdoors and masked. All volunteers and staff are required to be vaccinated to work with children at this time.
Current Programming
Our online Nursery/PreK children’s chapel continues for two more Sundays, 9/5 and 9/12, at 9:15 am with Ms. Harmoni. Children up through age 7 are invited to join her for a 30-minute chapel before our regular worship begins. Children’s Chapel
All other ages are encouraged to participate in worship services in the chat.
Please note that the preceding schedule is subject to change based on COVID stages in our community and our staged gathering plan.
See you on Sunday,
Carrie, DLFD
